Chidozie Awaziem could well stage a comeback to the Super Eagles after he impressed coach Eric Chelle in his recent outings with his new club FC Nantes.
Awaziem has been frozen out of the Super Eagles since March 2023, when he featured in the Morocco friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
He has since been playing in the Major League Soccer (MLS) before his summer switch to the French Ligue 1 with Nantes.
A source told SCORENigeria: “Eric really liked what he saw of Awaziem recently. He was impressed by his performance in the opening game of the season against PSG.
“Even though Nantes lost the game, Awaziem showed his class.”
The Super Eagles are shopping for solid central defenders going into next month’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa after injury ruled out experienced Semi Ajayi.
