The selections of interim coach Justine Madugu for Super Falcons opening WAFCON game against Tunisia have been questioned ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Botswana.
The Super Falcons got off to a winning start at the delayed 2024 WAFCON with a 3-0 win over Tunisia and now lead Group B after Algeria managed only a 1-0 win over Botswana in the other match in the group.
Close team watchers have questioned starting Asisat Oshoala ahead of the on-form Esther Okoronkwo as top striker against Tunisia, while skipper Rasheedat Ajibade was subdued as second striker when she is usually a winger.
Youngster Deborah Abiodun was also picked ahead of the more experienced Christy Ucheibe in defensive midfield.
Team play was generally disjointed, lacked cohesion and the Super Falcons were wasteful in front of goal against the lowest ranked team in this 12-team tournament.
The Super Falcons will book their place in the quarterfinal with an expected victory over Botswana tomorrow.
Kick-off tomorrow is 8pm.
