Russia trounced Zambia 5-0 in a friendly in March and they are also confident going into tomorrow’s game against a weakened Super Eagles.
Kick-off tomorrow at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow is 6pm Nigerian time.
Russia remain unbeaten this year in eight matches.
Since February 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine, Russia have not played an official game following sanctions imposed on them by both FIFA and UEFA.
This is the first-ever full international meeting between Nigeria and Russia.
The Super Eagles will not be a full strength after the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and most recently Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Iheanacho asked to be left out of this historic friendly.
In their place are captain William Ekong, Moses Simon and Semi Ajayi, while Brentford young defender Benjamin Fredrick did enough at the recent Unity Cup in London to again be handed a late invitation for this test against the Russians.
Another youngster Olakunle Olusegun from Russia club Krasnoder has also been handed his chance to make his Super Eagles debut.
The winger, who has been capped by the Golden Eaglets, is fast and powerful and weighs in with his own fair of goals.
After Cyriel Dessers staked his claim in the Super Eagles with a goal and an assist at the Unity Cup, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface will get his own chance to do same after going more than a dozen games without a goal for the country.
