Benjamin Fredrick enjoyed a superb Super Eagles debut against Jamaica, but coach Eric Chelle said he still demands a lot more from the Brentford youngster.
The 19-year-old central defender has yet to make his Premier League debut, but he got a late call-up and did not display any nerves playing in the heart of the Super Eagles defence alongside Slavia Praha star Igho Ogbu.
Super Eagles coach Eric acknowledged Fredrick made a good impression on him, but he still demands some improvements by the youngster.
“He reads the game well, but of course there’s room for improvements,” he challenged.
“We conceded a goal and maybe he could have done something differently in that situation.
“Like I always say about our players, even when they play well, we still need to improve every day.”
He added: “My assistant even joked that I should take credit for his performance because I selected him.
“But really, it’s just one game – a big one – and he needs to keep working hard and improving.”
