Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said Ahmed Musa is under a lot of pressure because he has to be “very good” to prove himself in the team he is building.
The Kano Pillars captain has been recalled to the Super Eagles after he was last involved with the national team at the delayed 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire in February.
“He is a great player and he can bring his quality and his experience because he has played a lot of big games and can bring something to the group,” Eric Chelle said at a press briefing ahead of Wednesday’s showdown against rivals Ghana in the Unity Cup in London.
“He has a lot of pressure because he needs to be very good.
“He should take his chance and show us what he can do.”
The Super Eagles coach further said that like Ahmed Musa, the nine other players from the NPFL slected for the Unity Cup must also prove themselves.
“We have a lot of players in Nigeria and so we need to give a chance for these players to show us their quality,” he said.
“They deserve to get their chance
“They are good players, who bring a lot aggression and intensity to play for this jersey.
“We will use the Unity Cup to try some systems and players to be ready for September (2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa).”
