SCORENigeria has specially learnt that top stars Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman as well as Fulham pair of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey will not be part of the Super Eagles series of friendlies after they asked to be left out for personal reasons.
The Super Eagles will first take on arch-rivals Ghana at the invitational Unity Cup in London, before playing a second friendly against either Jamaica or Trinidad & Tobago.
Thereafter they take on Russia in a first-ever meeting at full international level on June 6 in Moscow.
Various sources gave reasons why some of the prominent members of the Super Eagles will not feature in these matches.
It is understood that both Osimhen and Ademola Lookman want to use the summer to sort out their future.
Osimhen’s loan deal at Galatasaray is up next month and he is widely expected to finally quit Napoli soon, while Ademola Lookman hopes to also make a major transfer after lifting Atalanta to the top of the pile in Italy.
Close sources also informed SCORENigeria that ‘Mola’ wishes to take a deserved break after a hectic campaign with his Italian club.
It is also believed that Fulham stars and close friends Iwobi and Bassey already have some personal engagements that clash with these matches and so asked to be excluded.
