Belgian club KAA Gent will not sign on a permanent basis young striker Umar Abubakar even after he scored 21 goals in 27 matches for the B team.
Umar Abubakar, who failed to make the Flying Eagles final cut for the U20 AFCON, was a loan deal to Belgium from his Nigerian club with the option to sign him permanently thereafter.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, Gent see no future for the young goalgetter in the Gent first-team squad.
Moreover, they want to give plenty of space to their own youth products at Jong KAA Gent, who will compete in the Challenger Pro League next season.
