SCORENigeria can report that besides the selection crisis that the Super Eagles will face due to the unavailability of top stars like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, players who will feature at the London invitational tournament will not be covered by insurance taken by FIFA and the results from the four-nation invitational will have no bearing on the FIFA Rankings.
This is because the Super Eagles matches scheduled for May 27 (vs Ghana) and 30 (vs Jamaica or Trinidad & Tobago) fall outside the FIFA international break, which is June 2-10.
The implication of this is that players injured during these matches in London will not be covered by FIFA insurance.
“The players are at a risk as it will be the NFF and the tournament organisers who will now take up an insurance cover for the them in the event of an injury,” an official disclosed.
“It wil be a huge risk by the boys.
“Also, there won’t be any points won to impact on your FIFA ranking.”
