Flying Eagles escape ‘Group of Death’ as new draw for U20 AFCON holds

The Flying Eagles look set to get out of the 2025 U20 AFCON ‘Group of Death’ as CAF will today stage a fresh draw for the competition.

This followed the withdrawal of Cote d’Ivoire as hosts of the tournament and Egypt as new hosts.

Nigeria U20s were initially drawn in ‘Group of Death’ along with Egypt, Morocco and South Africa when the competition was to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.

For the fresh draw, hosts Egypt, record winners Nigeria and defending champions Senegal  will head Groups A, B and C, respectively.

This year’s U20 AFCON will kick off April 27 in Cairo, Egypt, with the four semifinalists advancing to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile in October.
