England legend Alan Shearer has said Victor Osimhen is the striker Arsenal desperately need, while another Three Lions great Gary Lineker does not agree.
The 26-year-old Osimhen has previously been on Mikel Arteta’s radar.
Shearer said they should renew their pursuit of the striker who will return to Napoli after his loan spell as Galatasaray by season’s end.
“He would definitely score goals for them. The problem they have now is that the whole world knows they need a forward. So a player who might have cost £60-70m will now be worth £100-110m when Arsenal come in,” he said on the podcast “The Rest is Football“.
However, Lineker, another proven England striker, has said Arsenal ought to go for Liam Delap, 22, who has shone at struggling Ipswich Town.
“If I were them, I would bet on Delap at Ipswich. I know he is young and has not fully proven himself, but he has scored quite a few goals in the Premier League this season for a team that has obviously struggled,” he said in the same podcast.
“I like him and his movements.
“There is talk of him going back to Man City but Haaland has signed a nine-year deal, so you may have to wait a very long time to get a game.”
