FCT Football Association chairman Adam Mouktar Mohammed has saluted the Abuja Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for staging the Lecture Series in honour Jide Fashikun, who passed on earlier this year.
“SWAN has done a noble thing to remind us of what Jide Fashikun stood for,” Mouktar Mohammed.
“He fought for sports and stood for the truth.
“The lectures dwelled on grassroots development and the need to go back to schools sports.”
The FCT FA chairman made a personal cash donation to the family of Fashikun.
In the meantime, the FA boss has announced that plans are underway for the association to launch a women’s football league.
Also, an FCT youth team with players drawn from the various area councils will in the New Year feature in an international competition.
