Striker Martins Usule has said it was a great feeling to score the match winner for Enyimba to beat visiting San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire in a crucial CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash.
Usule came off the bench in the second half to fire home a poor clearance by the Ivorian defence on 64 minutes and revive Enyimba’s hopes in the Confederation Cup.
Enyimba are now second in Group D with three points from two matches after Hassaina Agadir of Morocco won 2-0 at Paradou of Algeria to stay top of the standings on six points.
Usule scored his third goal of the competition and he said it was great to make the difference for his team.
“It was great to score the match winner for my team especially after we lost our first game (vs Hassaina Agadir in Morocco),” he said.
“I was disappointed when I was on the bench and it was not going well for my team.
“I resolved to score whether I started the game or came from the bench and so it was.”
Enyimba next game is at bottom club Paradou in Algeria on December 29.
