The Super Eagles have paid dearly for a poor run in the final hurdle of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers that fetched them a miserable point out of a possible six points by crashing in the FIFA Ranking.
The Super Eagles forced Benin to a 1-1 draw in Abidjan, before they were upset 2-1 by lowly Rwanda in Uyo to bring to an end their AFCON qualifying campaign.
Thankfully, they have already booke their ticket to Morocco 2025 before those two matches.
They are now 44th in the rankings on account of these results, crashing eight places down from 36th at the previous ratings.
Nigeria also slipped to fifth best team in Africa behind leaders Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.
