After missing the teamโs final training, the Beyond Limits Academy striker, 17, had to pass a late fitness test to start todayโs match against the highly-fancied Ivorians and in the end he did not disappoint.
He has now promised that the Flying Eagles will beat Niger Saturday afternoon to qualify for the tournament final, which will guarantee them the ticket to the 2025 U20 AFCON in South Africa.
โI am very happy to score the goal that took my country to the semifinal, that was only possible with the support of the whole team,โ he said.
โOur mentality today was top, if we could have that mentality in the semifinal, we will get to the final and get our ticket to the Nations Cup.
โWe can do better to reach the final and pick the ticket, we will make Nigeria proud again.โ
The Flying Eagles will play the first semifinal against Niger.
Kick-off time Saturday is 3pm Nigerian time.
