Coach Aliyu Zubairu has promised that the Flying Eagles will play their best game in Saturday’s semifinal of the U20 AFCON qualifying tournament against Niger.
After a disappointing opening day loss to Burkina Faso, the coach said the team posted an improved performance today against the Ivorians to give them a hard-fought 2-1 win and a ticket to the last-four of the competition.
“The boys were jittery in the first game and that’s usually what you get in an opening game, but today you could see that it was a much improved team,” Aliyu Zubairu said.
“In the semifinal you will see a better Nigerian team.
“We cannot compromise because we have to qualify for the U20 AFCON.”
The El Kanemi Warriors coach admitted the Flying Eagles were relieved to win today and advance to the knockout rounds of the tournament.
