Aliyu Zubairu, who led El Kanemi Warriors to win this year’s President Federation Cup, has now emerged as the new favourite for the Flying Eagles head coach position.
Former Golden Eaglets coach Nduka Ugbade was closing in on the Flying Eagles top post, before the emergence of Abdullahi Biffo.
Top sources have now told SCORENigeria that Aliyu Zubairu is now the front runner to succeed Ladan Bosso as Flying Eagles coach.
The NFF leadership has insisted on a coach with NPFL experience to take charge of the country’s U20s.
Zubairu has handled several Premier League clubs including Kwara United, Gombe United and Wikki Tourists.
His immediate assignment will be the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifiers in Togo from October 17 to 31.
This competition will serve as qualifying tournament for the U20 AFCON.
