SCORENigeria can exclusively report today that the Super Eagles will now be $1.2 Million (about 1.8 Billion Naira) richer as their own share of the prize money from the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria pocketed a prize money of $4 Million after they were beaten 2-1 in the final of the delayed 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire in February.
Champions Cote d’Ivoire earned $7 Million.
It was gathered that negotiations between the Super Eagles and the NFF over the sharing formula concluded with the players getting 30% instead of the 25% that the football federation wanted them to take.
The 30% translates to $1.2 as against $1 Million for 25%.
SCORENigeria further gathered that the payment process for this has advanced to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“The players and team officials will soon get their share of the prize money as all the paperwork is now at the CBN,” a top official informed SCORENigeria
