Antwerp coach Jonas De Roeck has said the transfer of youngster George Ilenikhena to AS Monaco is a “win-win” for all the parties involved in the transaction.
Ilenikhena, who is still 17, has moved to Monaco in a deal that will rise to 20 Million Euros including add-ons.
Antwerp bought him from French second division club SC Amiens for Six Million Euros last summer.
They reportedly were aiming to receive between 30 and 40 Million Euros for the teenager after he impressed in his first season with them.
“It was a win-win for everyone,” the Antwerp coach said.
“We can be happy that he can take such a step forward. That is a sign that the club have worked well with him.”
He added: “That is a hurrah feeling for the club. He was brought in a year ago at a young age, has grown here and can now take a step to a nice club in European football.”
