Southampton have said Paul Onuachu has not submitted a transfer request and he has been training well since he returned to the Premier League last weekend.
Southampton boss Russell Martin confirmed that Onuachu has not submitted a transfer request and is committed to his training back at the club.
“There’s been no transfer request as far as I know. If I get told anything different, I’ll tell you. But so far no. He’s training hard;you’ve probably seen that yourself,” Martin told Daily Echo.
“Paul’s been great. He’s trained really well and we’ve had a good chat. He’s been really honest with me. I’ve been really honest with him.
“He’s not ready to play yet. He’s only been back since Sunday so we’ll have to wait and see.”
He further said Southampton have received an offer for the 30-year-old striker, but it was rejected because it fell far below the club’s valuation.
“We’ve had one bid for Paul and it was nowhere near the valuation of the club,” Martin disclosed.
Onuachu is back on loan from Turkish club Trabzonspor, who now wish to sign him on a permanent basis.
He has a contract with ‘The Saints’ until June 2026.
