Two-time AFCON winner with Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire, Herve Renard is the most popular of the four shortlisted coaches for the Super Eagles.
He has proved himself both in Africa and most recently on the world stage with Saudi Arabia.
However, he will only free of his contract of the France women’s team after the Paris Olympics in the middle of next month.
ADVANTAGES: His appointment will most certainly be greeted with excitement by both fans and the players because of his proven track record.
He is no stranger to working in Africa as he started out as an assistant coach in West Africa – Ghana.
His favoured formation of 4-3-3 is what the Super Eagles last worked with in June.
DISADVANTAGES: He will be expensive. His initial salary demand of $180,000-a-month will make him the biggest earning coach in Nigeria football history.
He is also courted by several other countries like Egypt and the United States of America, who will be willing to match his asking price.
SCORENigeria RATING: Renard is the most acceptable of the three shortlisted candidates for the Super Eagles top post. However, he comes with a huge price tag, which can only be afforded by the Federal Government of Nigeria. And except the NFF can get a firm commitment from him soon, it would be risking too much to wait for him till after the Paris Olympics because two weeks after the Super Eagles will welcome Benin to Uyo in an opening 2025 AFCON qualifier.

Only the best is good for the super eagles.
