Genk hijacked the big striker from right under the noses of local rivals Anderlecht as a direct replacement for another Nigeria striker, Paul Onuachu, who was finally sold to Southampton in the Premier League.
And so when he was not getting the goals with the same regularity of Onuachu, even the fans of his club got on his back.
However, he eventually came good to finish with double figures.
Across 2660 minutes, Tolu was able to reach an XG (Expected goals) of 13.73 and even average 177 minutes per goal.
The 23-year-old striker sourced from Box2Box of Lagos was a constant threat to opposition defences, taking a total of 81 shots in the Jupiler Pro League, ensuring 37 of them were on target.
He also has an impressive conversion rate of 14.81% and an Impressive shot accuracy of 45.68%.
Despite being an out and out striker, not a creator, Arokodare made 314 out of 459 passes successful, reaching a completion rate of 68.41% and making 28 passes with two assists and three crosses.
These impressive performance earned him a place among the best outputs at the club last season, in fact Genk’s highest goal scorer both in the league (12 goals) and in all competitions (15 goals), even spurring them to finish sixth in the regular season and fourth in the Championship Playoffs.
However, Genk fell to Gent in the final playoff for a place in Europe next season.
