South Africa will be in Nigeria for a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier with striker Lyle Forster, who featured in the Premier League with Burnley this past season and pulled out of the AFCON earlier this year.
Forster stayed back at his English club then, claiming mental problems.
He was therefore not part of the squad that battled the Super Eagles in a pulsating AFCON semifinal that had to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos assured the striker’s mental problems are now in the past.
“His health problem is solved, that was the problem,” the coach announced.
Forster was earlier this month named on a 35-man provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe next month.
Bafana Bafana announced today he has now made the final 23-man squad.
Coach Broos has also selected AFCON penalty hero and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Al Ahly star forward Percy Tau and experienced midfielder Themba Zwane.
They tackle the Super Eagles on Friday, June 7 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Kick-off time is 8pm.
