David Akintola is bullish his new Turkish Rizespor could still feature in a European competition next season.
Rizespor are seventh on the table with 42 points from 30 matches, just four points off the pace with the teams in the bracket of those for European football next season.
“The race for the Championship has ended for us,” said the former Adana Demirspor ace, who teamed up with Rizespor on a free transfer last month.
“But there is still a race for who will play in Europe next season. You see one of the best leagues in the world is here. There is always a great competition.
“I came to a team that have targets in this competition. I think our European goal continues and when everything falls into place.
“I think we can achieve this goal when we start getting wins.
“This is my fourth year in this league, I know what can happen. I have this experience. I came here to help the team achieve their goal. I hope we can achieve this goal.”
