SCORENigeria has it on good authority that Finidi George is one of seven coaches shortlisted for the vacant Super Eagles head coach position.
Enyimba coach Finidi was the interim coach for the country’s team for two friendlies against Ghana and Mali in Morocco this month.
His team beat Ghana 2-1, before they lost 2-0 to Mali.
It is a performance that has divided opinion with several state FA chairmen urging the NFF to go beyond him to appoint a more experienced coach for the Super Eagles.
What could also work against Finidi is that he does not have a UEFA Pro license or the equivalent of a CAF A license at a time that CAF are fully focused that only qualified coaches work the sidelines.
SCORENigeria further gathered that the shortlist may include Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf was not considered as the list is dominated by foreign coaches with the NFF clear in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
One of the most influential members of the NFF technical committee, who is also a top politician, has advocated for another foreign coach to succeed Jose Peseiro at the helm of the Super Eagles.
As first reported by SCORENigeria, the next Super Eagles coach could earn as much as $80,000 a month, which will make him the highest paid coach of the national team.

Amuneke Emmanuel is the right way forward, even if he has offended or stepped on some important people tows but he has a sound UEFA PRO LICENSE QUALIFICATION and he is a fellow Nigerian… getting a white man now is and will be a disaster because of lack of time to bed in and before he knows all our players and their names first then Nigeria will lose or draw some games to be out of contention. So amuneke whether they like it or not… Eguavoen was dubiously given the job after rohr ill advise and stupid decision sacking close to a major tournament and amuneke should have been choosen instead of Eguavoen but Nff stupidly mess up right decision as usually as they do.. now can or will they learn? Amuneke time is now.. there is no time again. Meanwhile we have a very useless and corrupt Nff technical incompetent committee
When you write about people who are doing their jobs, be careful with the language you use to describe them.
You were sarcastic and critically disrespectful the way you described them. What you should always do is to give helpful suggestions to them. As you are desirous of the team to always excel in all their matches, so they are too.
It’s possible that with your good suggestions to them the team could do much better
NFF should desist from favouritism, once you go on with favouritism, they will loose it.
It is good for them to look for the best person for the job and as l can see Emmanuel Amuneke is the best person for the job.
One Emmanuel during his career as a professional footballer, he was the only Nigerian professional footballer who was able to play with the best club in the whole of Europe which is Barcelona
He led golden eaglets to bring the gold
He led Tanzania to qualify for AFCON
He has UEFA License,
Even Findi George was unable to play with Barcelona , let the truth be told, put the right people in the right place, l believe Amueke the most Qualified among all professional in Nigeria.
