Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has said he has developed a big mentality because he was never considered a top talent when he started out.
The Rangers striker suffered many rejections and setbacks, but he has since finished top scorer of the UEFA Conference League as well as the Dutch league.
He has also made his Super Eagles debut.
“I have seen the other side of football,” Dessers told RTBF about his own career.
“That’s why I can now enjoy all the great moments in football. I was never considered a great talent and it made me stronger.”
He added: “A career is not a sprint, but a marathon. I think my career is the perfect illustration of that.
“It is thanks to my mother and my brother that I am where I am today. “I come from a small village and the joke is that there are more cows than people. But that’s where I grew up as a football player and fell in love with football.”
