Stand-in captain William Ekong has declared the Super Eagles want to go all the way to win a fourth AFCON title in Cote d’Ivoire.
“We have been defending well like a great team and we have been attacking and creating chances as a good team,” the PAOK defender said after leading the Super Eagles past Angola to the semifinal of the 2023 AFCON.
“I like the fighting spirit and togetherness of this team.
“We’re heading in the right direction because we want to go all the way.”
Ekong has also assured he will continue to push through the pain barrier as he is battling a right thigh injury.
That forced him to miss a final group game against Guinea Bissau.
“I felt some discomfort in my thigh during our second game against Cote d’Ivoire, but I am managing my body,” he revealed.
“I hope to continue to be available and give my best for this team.”
