Jerome Akor has got off to a flying start in the New Year after he posted a five-star performance to lift his Ligue 1 club to the quarterfinal of the Coupe de France with a brace and an assist as a late substitute.
5.Nnadi Tochukwu
The Flying Eagles midfielder posted a winning debut for Belgian club Zulte Waregem as they won 2-0 at RC Liege. He shone for the 83 minutes he was on the pitch. Zulte Waregem remain in hot pursuit for promotion back to the top Belgian league as they are second in the stndings with 36 points from 19 matches, same points as leaders Beerschot.
4.Yira Sor
Another Flying Eagles star was on top form as he opened scoring for Genk in a 1-1 draw at St-Truiden. This is already the most productive season in Belgium for the speedy winger as he has now netted five goals in 15 appearances. Genk are now just a spot outside the Top-4 championship playoffs. They have 36 points from 22 matches, three points behind fourth-placed Gent.
3.Francis Momoh
The lanky forward helped to inspire Swiss side Grasshoper Zurich to come back and win the derby against FC Zurich. His club were losing 1-0 before he assisted for them to draw level in the 71st minute and then go on to win it at the dead.
2.Cyriel Dessers
The striker has continued to bang in the goals even after he was overlooked by the Super Eagles for the AFCON. At the weekend, Dessers scored for the third straight game for Scottish giants in a 1-0 win at St.Mirren. The 29-year-old striker has now scored eight goals in 19 appearances in the Scottish top league. However, Rangers remain five points behind leaders and arch-rivals Celtic.
1.Jerome Akor
The former Flying Eagles striker scored twice and delivered an assist for Montpellier to reach the quarterfinal of the Coupe de France. This was after he came off the bench on 73 minutes to first score with his first touch of the ball. It is a fine way to sign in for the New Year. He will now hope to end a goals drought in the Ligue 1 after he got off to a flying start in France with seven goals. He will get his chance with the Super Eagles as long as he continues to score goals with his club.
