The 2023 CAF Player of the Year told the team in Dubai that they have the quality to win a fourth AFCON title 10 years after Nigeria’s last conquest.
“The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament,” the Napoli star striker declared when he addressed the team at dinner after they celebrated his coronation as the best player in Africa
“I believe in this group, we have bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed and we are going to do so well.”
This will be Osimhen’s second AFCON after his debut in the competition in 2019 in Egypt, where Nigeria finished third.
He finished as the leading scorer in the qualifiers with 10 goals.
The 25-year-old sharp shooter was given a standing ovation by his Eagles teammates for winning the CAF Player of the Year Award with both coach Jose Peseiro and captain Ahmed Musa paying glowing tribute to him.
