The Super Falcons will take on their Ethiopian counterparts this afternoon without coach Randy Waldrum, who led the team to the knockout rounds of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF said the Falcons will be led by assistant coaches Justin Madugu and Ann Chiejine until his contract situation is resolved.
Waldrum’s contract is due to run out and he is currently in talks with the NFF for an extension.
“Waldrum will not be in Addis Ababa for the match against Ethiopia,” said NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire.
“His Nigerian assistants will in his absence take charge of the matches, that is the two legs of the qualifiers (vs Ethiopia).
“I think Waldrum decided to stay away from the two legs of the qualifiers until his contract situation is sorted out with the NFF.”
Today’s 2024 Olympics qualifier will kick off 1.30pm.
The return leg will be played in Abuja Tuesday, October 31.
The overall winners of these qualifiers will take on the winners of the clash between Uganda and Cameroon.
