Victor Boniface has announced his arrival in the Bundesliga with a brace for Bayer Leverkusen, while Taiwo Awoniyi has set a new record at Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
5.Odion Ighalo
The veteran striker needed only six minutes on the pitch to prove he has not lost his shooting boots by scoring for his new Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda to win 3-0 on the road. Last season, he did more than enough to be rewarded with a new contract by another Saudi club, Al Hilal, but the Riyadh preferred to let him go so as to make room for higher profiled stars like Neymar from Europe. In 2021, he was crowned Goal King in the oil-rich kingdom and not many will bet against him from getting among the goals in his third season there.
4.Tolu Arokodare
The under-fire striker replied the critics with a superb goal for Genk to win a UEFA Europa Conference League tie at home against ambitious Turkish club Adana Demirspor. He came off the bench to draw the Belgian club level before they went on to win 2-1. The giant centre-forward was a direct replacement for fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu in January, but he has yet to justify his transfer leading to criticisms from the stands. He will still need to do far more to come close to the records set by Onuachu at Genk.
3.Victor Osimhen
The Super Eagles star scored from the penalty spot for his 100th goal at club level as Napoli went on to win their second straight Serie A game in the new season against Sassuolo. He has now scored three goals after his brace against Frosinone on the opening day of the season. Expectations are again high on both Napoli and Osimhen to repeat what they achieved in the last campaign. Before the kick-off, the striker received the Paolo Rossi Award for finishing top scorer of Serie A last season. Can he be Goal King again?
2.Taiwo Awoniyi
The striker scored for the seventh straight Premier League at Manchester United to set a new record at Nottingham Forest. He is now only the third African star after Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor to reach such milestone. But records aside, Forest will again count on his goals to ensure safety in the Premier League as was the case last season.

1.Victor Boniface
The big striker made a big statement in the German Bundesliga with his double strike for Bayer Leverkusen at Borussia Monchengladbach. He has already scored for Bayer 04 in pre-season and in a cup game, but his first goals in the Bundesliga have certainly won him some attention as the German top league gathers steam. He says he can still do more. Despite his goals in the UEFA Europa League and the Belgian league with Union St.Gilloise last season, he was overlooked for his full international cap. It is now just a matter of time before he makes his long-awaited Super Eagles debut.
