Enyimba will tomorrow overturn a 1-0 loss at Rahimo FC of Burkina Faso to advance to the first round of the CAF Champions League even though the return leg in Aba will be played behind closed doors and without their home fans cheering them, according to goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai.
CAF have ordered Nigeria champions Enyimba to host Rahimo behind closed doors because the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba does not meet international standards.
“With the supporters cheering us on it will be easier to win, but it won’t be an excuse if we do not get the result because the match was played behind closed doors,” said Afelokhai
“We will encourage ourselves to win this game. It’s a match we just have to win.
“Enyimba are too big a club to drop out at this stage of the competition.”
‘The People’s Elephant’ have been African champions twice, in 2003 and 2004.
In the meantime, the eight-time Nigeria champions have been boosted by the return of striker Abdulraham Bashir, who has fully recovered from a knee injury which ruled him out of the first leg in Burkina Faso a fortnight ago.
