Super Eagles B will early tomorrow face a tough test in San Jose against home team Costa Rica, who are putting final touches to their preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Kick-off time is 3am tomorrow in Nigeria or 8pm today in Costa Rica.
The country’s second-string side have failed to qualify for next year’s CHAN after they were eliminated by arch-rivals Ghana in a final playoffs.
CHAN Eagles stars like Kayode Bankole, Afeez Nosiru and Chidiebere Nwobodo have been joined by several U23 internationals like Nathanial Nwosu, Daniel Wotlai, Qudus Akanni and Dominion Ohaka for this litmus test.
The joker in the pack could well be former Shooting Stars forward Sunday Faleye, who has impressed in training and is armed with exposure from stints in Austria and the Czech Republic.
He was one of the top stars when the CHAN Eagles went all the way to the final of the 2018 CHAN in Morocco.
The former Nigeria U23 star has a great technique and also knows his way to goal.
This could well be his chance to get his career back on track after recent setbacks.
Coach Salisu Yusuf himself is under more pressure after he failed to qualify the country to the 2023 CHAN.
He was also part of the coaching staff when Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
