Anthony Nwakaeme has expressed confidence Trabzonspor are on course to winning the Turkish Super Lig after they edged past closest rivals Konyaspor 2-1 at the weekend to remain top of the table.
“It was a very important win for us. We are very happy, because we got what we wanted,” he said.
“We want to be champions, but nothing is finished yet. It’s never over until it’s officially over. We’ll keep going until it’s over.”
Trabzonspor are 12 points clear of Konyaspor with 13 rounds of matches to the end of the season.
They have won the Turkish league six times with their last conquest being in the 1983/1984 season.
Nwakaeme assisted Edin Visca for the crucial winning goal.
“One of my most important strengths is being able to protect the ball. I felt it. Maybe I was lucky or was a nice assist,” he said afterwards.
