The NFF have disclosed they and the sports ministry are now studying a technical report of the AFCON submitted by coach Augustine Eguavoen and will soon make public an official position.
The NFF are expected to announce the coach to lead the Super Eagles to next month’s crucial 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana after the team crashed out in the Round of 16 of the AFCON in Cameroon.
“We have received the technical report on the AFCON 2021 and we are presently studying it, in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development,” NFF general secretary Mohammed Sanusi said in a statement.
“Once the study and appraisal are done with, we will make known our position.”
Nigeria won all three group phase matches against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in Garoua, and emerged the only team in the tournament to record maximum nine points from three matches.
However, the team lost by the odd goal to Tunisia in the Round of 16.
