A SuperSport panel of experts that included former Ghana star Asamoah Gyan has predicted the Super Eagles will win the AFCON in Cameroon.
They based their prediction on the performances of the teams after the group stage of the competition.
The Eagles won all three group games and will face Tunisia Sunday in a Round of 16 clash at their first round base of Garoua.
“Nigeria have been the most impressive team in the competition and could be champions,” remarked Gyan.
“But Cote d’Ivoire appear to have picked up after their win over Algeria, but I have not been convinced about the host nation Cameroon.”
However, one of the panelists warned that he hoped the Eagles have not peaked before the business end of the tournament, while another panelist stressed the knockout stages will not respect what any team had achieved in the group stage as a mistake will send any team home.
