Former Super Eagles coach and captain Sunday Oliseh has said even though Egypt are overwhelming favourites to win today’s AFCON clash, Nigeria can upset the form books by playing “Nigerian football”.
“If we (Nigeria) want to win (today), we have to play Nigerian football,” Oliseh said in an interview.
“What’s Nigerian football? It’s aggressive and it’s full of pace.
“That’s what we have to play.”
Oliseh has also kicked against the “fanatical craze” to hire a foreign coach by NFF president Amaju Pinnick, while giving his full support for Augustine Eguavoen to succeed with the Super Eagles.
“There’s a fanatical craze to always employ a foreign coach,” he said.
“Are Nigerians not capable of coaching the Super Eagles?”
“And we also take coaches nobody knows before they come to Nigeria.”
