Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has backed the Super Eagles to be AFCON champions again in Cameroon.
The Sparta Rotterdam shot stopper said he will return to his base in Holland with African football top prize in February.
“We are going to the Africa Cup to win the tournament,” the Super Eagles No.1 said.
“Nigeria are a great football country and we have a good team.
“Let me return to Rotterdam with a prize.”
The delayed AFCON will be the first major tournament for the 22-year-old goalkeeper with Nigeria.
He said it is a dream come true for him.
“As a small child, I always cheered the Super Eagles,” he recalled.
“It’s a dream come true, so I really hope it continues.
“It will be one or two days of Christmas and then via Nigeria to Cameroon.”
In the meantime, Sparta Rotterdam coach Henk Frazer has said he hopes Okoye could rejoin the club by the second round of the AFCON as the team battle against relegation.
They are currently 17th on the table and just three points outside the drop zone.
