Sports Minister Sunday Dare is to have met with top officials at the Presidency to register his opposition to the re-appointment of coach Salisu Yusuf by the Super Eagles, according to Sporting Life.
Salisu Yusuf recently served out year’s ban for receiving money from undercover journalists, who posed as football agents.
Dare was to meet Secretary to the Federal Government Boss Mustapha to discuss “the untoward” reinstatement of coach Yusuf, Sporting Life reported.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have defended the return of Yusuf by explaining that it was on the recommendation of coach Gernot Rohr.
The Super Eagles will be expected to next month advance to the final playoffs of the 2022 World Cup before gunning for a fourth AFCON title in Cameroon early next year.
