The Super Falcons will take to Accra a 2-0 advantage going into the return leg match of a Women’s AFCON playoff against arch-rivals today.
The overall winners of this tie Sunday will qualify for next year’s AFCON in Morocco, which also serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Cup in new Zealand and Australia.
Striker Uchenna Kanu fired a first-half brace to give the nine-time African champions victory.
Kanu opened scoring in the 21st minute thanks to an assist by Francisca Ordega, before she doubled the lead in first half stoppage time.
In a scoreless second half, Falcons failed to build on their two-goal advantage with a poor and unco-ordinated midfield.
Falcons Starting XI: Nnadozie – Glory Obonna, Ohale, Onome Ebi, Sunday – Otu, Ajibade, Tony Payne – Ajibade, Ordega, Oshoala (Captain)

You journalists are part of the problems of Nigeria. You don’t carry out a thorough investigation before you publish.especially in this golden age of information technology. It’s quite sad. You reported that if Super Falcons beat Black Queens of Ghana, Nigeria has qualify for the tournament which is wrong. Nigeria still has the hurdle of the winner between Ivory coast and Niger Women national teams to cross which is the last round of qualifier. Check Wikipedia site to verify. Please, check your facts before pulishing information.
Thanks for the correction.
