Genk have lavishly celebrated Paul Onuachu as “God sent” and “a phenomenon” after he scored his 50th goal for the Belgian club.
Onuachu scored his 50th goal in 78 matches courtesy of the match winner at Austrian club Rapid Vienna in a UEFA Europa League group clash Thursday.
In a special citation on their official website, Genk announced: “Onuachu is a phenomenon and a God sent for our club. He is already top scorer and Player of the Year, it goes without saying that he would deserve the Golden Shoe.”
The prestigious Golden Shoe awarded to the best player in the Belgian league in a calendar year, is the only award Onuachu has yet to win.
Last year, he only finished third for this top award.
For this year, he will most likely have to battle the likes of Club Brugge pair of Noa Lang and Charles De Ketelaere as well as his Genk teammate Theo Bongonda.
