The Super Eagles will soon be boosted by additional firepower provided by Ike Ugbo after he chose to play for Nigeria at full international level and not England, who he has played for at age-grade levels.
Ugbo recently joined Genk from Premier League giants Chelsea after a stellar loan spell at another Belgian club, Cercle Brugge.
The young striker, whose father is Nigerian and mother French, said he has already begun application to FIFA to change his international allegiance to Nigeria.
“I choose Nigeria,” he informed Sport/Voetbal Magazine.
“We are currently preparing the papers.
“The upcoming World Cup (Qatar 2022) will play its part in this (decision).
“I think I have more chances with Nigeria than with England.
“I also grew up with images of the national team and always followed their strikers, especially the boys who came to England.”
