Kelechi Iheanacho has backed the Super Eagles to win in Cape Verde tomorrow even without he and several top stars from the Premier League.
Leicester City striker Iheanacho fired a brace against Liberia in Lagos last week to get Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign off to a winning start.
However, he and fellow Premier League and Scotland league stars like Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, William Ekong, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Oghenekaro Etebo will miss tomorrow’s clash in Cape Verde because of the UK Coronavirus measures which have Cape Verde on the Red List.
Iheanacho has now insisted there should be no cause for worry even in the absence of these top stars as he expects the Eagles to win again in Cape Verde.
“We should not panic,” the striker assured.
“We have a decent squad who can deliver. Hopefully, we will get the three points in Cape Verde and that will mean getting two wins in a row.”
The Eagles top Group C with three points after Cape Verde were forced to a 1-1 draw by Central African Republic in Cameroon in the other game of the group.
