Enyimba may have lost their NPFL title to Akwa United, but they still have a chance to play international football next year should they win on the final day of the season tomorrow and their closest rivals drop points.
‘The People’s Elephant’ dropped two valuable points at their hitherto fortress in Aba Monday when they were forced to a 1-1 draw by relegation battlers Sunshine Stars.
They are now fifth on the table with 63 points after 37 matches.
Nasarawa United (2nd, 65 points), Kano Pillars (3rd, 64 points), Rivers United (4th, 63 points) face tricky away games at Abia Warriors, Heartland and Sunshine, who are all not safe from relegation.
Enyimba will be guests of Dakkada, who are safe from relegation.
This season, the Aba club have also enjoyed a better form away from home.
Coach Fatai Osho will quit the team after two years in charge and he would most certainly want to end it on a winning note and offer them a glimmer hope to play in either the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup next year.
