Antwerp have officially announced the signing of Alhassan Yusuf on a four-year contract from Swedish club IFK Goteborg.
This followed the midfielder passing a routine medical.
The transfer fee is 1.5 Million Euros, which could rise slightly with several other add-ons.
He is Antwerp’s seventh signing this summer ahead of the new season in Belgium and he is a direct replacement of Martins Hongla, who has moved to Italian Serie A club Hellas Verona.
In less than three years in Sweden, ‘Hasse’, as he was nicknamed by adoring Goteborg fans, proved his class as a tactically-shrewd, bandy-legged midfield grafter, so full of running and energy.
In 2019, the former FC Hearts star was named Young Player of the Year in Sweden and last year, he won his first major trophy in Europe – the Svenska Cupen.
Overall, the Kano-born Yusuf made 77 appearances, scored twice and provided nine assists for one of the traditional clubs in Sweden.
He has joined a club who are aiming to be champions after they finished third in the championship playoffs and were beaten in the Belgium Cup Final last year.
