He is the first Nigeria star to achieve such distinction.
This is also the Super Eagles striker’s second major award after he was crowned Goal King in the Jupiler Pro League with 33 goals this past season.
Onuachu is the third Genk star to be voted best player in Belgium after Souleymane Oulare (1999) and Wesley Sonck (2002) won such honour.
Genk won the Belgium Cup and will feature in the UEFA Champions League in the new season after they finished as runners-up in the league.
The 26-year-old striker is now expected to cash in on a big-money transfer to a major league on the back of his goals.
