CAF have fired a stern warning that teams risk heavy sanctions if they failed to host their 2022 World Cup qualifiers on standard natural grass or on the latest generation of synthetic pitches.
This followed the use of some sub-standard pitches like the Siaka Stevens Stadium pitch in Freetown, Sierra Leone, which hosted a Super Eagles 2021 AFCON qualifier in November.
The World Cup qualifiers will resume full blast by the end of May.
The Super Eagles will welcome the Lone Star of Liberia in the first week of June, before they travel to Central African Republic in continuation of the qualifying series for Qatar 2022.
Cape Verde are the other team in their qualifying group with the overall group winners advancing to a final playoff against other group winners to played on home and away knockout basis.
