NFF president Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that five players have already contracted Coronavirus just as the team’s training camp has bubbled with as many as 22 call-ups in today.
However, Pinnick said all but one of the affected players have since recovered.
“Four of the players have recovered, only one has yet to,” he said.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has already been ruled out of the AFCON after he contracted the virus.
He made this disclosure in an interview on Arise Television.
Pinnick also said Gernot Rohr did not list Watford winger Emmanuel Dennis on his 37-man AFCON provisional squad, which he submitted to CAF on November 15.
He described Watford as “stubborn” after they refused Dennis for AFCON, arguing that such clubs are so because they are struggling against relegation.
The NFF boss said Leicester City forward Ademola Lookman will soon be cleared to play for Nigeria.
“We should be a bit patient, we will have him (to play for Nigeria). I believe Lookman will play in the World Cup playoffs,” he disclosed.
“He will have a long time with the Eagles.”
In the meantime, nine players led by Leicester City pair of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho reported to the Eagles camp in Abuja.
The other players in are Kelechi Nwakali, Semi Ajayi, Kenneth Omeruo, Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, William Ekong and Frank Onyeka.
