The Super Falcons will hope it will be fourth time lucky in the Olympics qualifiers after they were drawn in the section of the draw for Paris 2024 along with recent Nemesis Cameroon and South Africa.
The Falcons may have featured in all the World Cups, but despite their dominance in African football they have struggled to qualify for the Olympics since Beijing 2008.
The nine-time African champions have failed to represent Africa at the 2012, 2016 and 2021 Olympics.
Tuesday’s draw for the Paris Olympics next year has pitted them against the winners of a preliminary round clash between Tchad and Ethiopia fixed for July.
The Falcons first round clash is scheduled for between October 23 and 31.
Nigeria are expected to scale this hurdle after which they are likely to face Cameroon, whose first round qualifiers will be against either Uganda or Rwanda.
That epic showdown is slated for February 2024, before a final playoffs in April most likely against South Africa, who will be expected to come through a section that has Botswana, Tanzania and Mozambique.
Africa will be represented by two teams at the Paris Olympics in the summer of 2024.
