The widely acclaimed winner of the Taraba Football Association elections, Mahmud Sanusi Mohammed, has obtained an interlocutory injunction restraining Timothy Magaji from parading himself as chairman of the Taraba FA.
The order was filed on November 30, 2020, at the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Jalingo.
The defendants include the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Timothy Magaji as well as NFF executive Babagana Kalli.
The hearing for the suit FHC/JAL/CS/26/2020 has been fixed for January 19, 2021.
“We have tried to seek redress from within for the past one year, but now have been forced to seek justice in court,” Sanusi Mohammed told SCORENigeria
“Football in Taraba is dead and we cannot afford such in a place where it is a big unifier.”
He added: “My mandate given to me by the people was stolen.”
The polls that purportedly ushered in Magaji was widely reported to have been staged in Numan, Adamawa State, against the order of the congress.
Only six delegates were at this election, whose outcome was reportedly ratified by the NFF.
Sanusi Mohammed, on the other hand, secured the votes of 13 delegates of the 19-man strong congress.
