Swedish club IFK Varnamo have rejected an offer from top Hungarian club Ujpest FC for striker Johnbosco Samuel Kalu.
The 26-year-old Kalu, who three years ago was playing in the Swedish seventh division, has so far scored five goals and provided an assist in eight appearances this season.
“It is true that we have received an offer. He is a guy who has had a huge change in his career with us and it is fun to follow his progress,” sports manager Enes Ahmetovic told Expressen.
“We have turned down the offer, because we have made the assessment that we want to keep him in this window. I am absolutely convinced that he will have a really good season for us and the team.”
Kalu moved to the Swedish top league in 2022 from Rappe GoIF.
The big striker has a contract with Varnamo until 2026.
